Great Performance by a young squad that will only get better as the year progresses. We will compete over break at Staunton River and at Garfield.

**Welcome to the 2007-2008 season of E.C. Glass Wrestling.**  This season promises to be a key event in the progression of our program.  The loss of such  standouts as Chris Robbins and Jonathan Stump along with with 4 other seniors looked to break up a continuity of starters from the past 4 years.  Yet even with the loss of these starters it looks to be a stronger team from top to bottom.  Dylan Schumacher has returned to us from Paris bringing with him 3 district finals appearances and 1 title.  He is the favorite to win the district and should be highly ranked at 119 lb in the state.  Many of the problems of last year have been worked out as the weight classes have separated allowing us to fill several deep at every classification.  A key transfer in middle school dominator Evan Jones and the addition of new light weights strengthens our lineup immensely.  Bobby Ibarra has emerged as the definite leader in the room and we look to have him for another year as he is only a JR.

Thell Campbell and Nick Moon should crack the lineup for the first time.  Wrestling behind Syed Asghar and Jonathan Stump last year, these two should surprise many of their opponents.  Bennett Whitehouse has added tremendous strength and endurance this off season and Brendon MacCormac  has added 20 pounds of muscle to his frame this summer.  We as a coaching staff are tremendously excited and look forward to seeing all of you mat side.

** HILL CITY DUAL RESULTS**

TO ALL;
Attached is the results information from the 2nd annual hill city duals wrestling event @ E. C. Glass High School.

HILLTOPPER DIVISION
Brookville High School over powered Seminole District revival Staunton River High School for First place.
For Staunton River to gain the chance to participate in the finals they had to overcome a three way tie in their pool with Lord Botetourt and EC Glass.  To break the three way tie the tournament needed to revert to the High School rule book and go the second level with EC Glass losing out, but Staunton River and Lord Botetourt had to continue to the 5th level of the tie breaker system in order to see who wrestled where.

JAMES RIVER DIVISION
Liberty High School won the tie breaker with Patrick County High School.  Both teams finished the day with a record of 4 wins and 1 lost.  Amherst was in the hunt to make it a three way tie but in the last round they tied with Broadway.  The tournament needed to go to the second level of the tie breaker system to break that match.  Broadway edged out Amherst for the shot at first place putting them in fourth for the day.

**January 2007** Happy New Year!! The Wrestling Team will be competing at home on January 6th in the 2nd Annual Hill City Duals.  This looks to be a competitive event as Glass features one of its most dominant dual meet teams in recent years.  The Wrestling Team completed a strong away stand this December with impressive wins over district rivals Patrick Henry, GW Danville, and Halifax.
